Top 10 Suggestions to Boost Your Immune System

With so many threats to our health surrounding us these days, and with the increased risk of immuno-compromised conditions like HIV/AID’s, autoimmune conditions and cancer, it just makes good sense to take the steps needed to be healthy. So I encourage you to walk the self-care pathway and to utilize our nutritional and holistic tools of self-care. Let me share with you my personal Top Ten Immune Suggestions.

1. Move your breath and your body. It stimulates the lymph throughout our filtering nodes before it gets mixed with the blood. Take conscious deep breaths to move the diaphragm and jump up and down. It’s playful, fun, and it circulates the lymph. It increases oxygen; many parasites, cancer cells and microbes can’t thrive in an oxygenated environment. But – we can.

2. Get parasympathetic. Relax, breath. Breathing seems to be a theme here. Let’s take a deep breath right now. So relax, breath, rest, pray or meditate. Be quiet. Be peaceful – mentally, emotionally and physically.

3. Do at least one thing each day just for you because you like it and because it feels good. Make yourself a priority, even if for only a few minutes each day.

4. Laugh. It exerts positive influence on the immune system. Watch funny movies, watch very little kids try to play organized sports, tell funny stories or jokes to each other. Put pictures up where you can see them that remind you of fun times you had when you were laughing.

5. Adopt a positive attitude. Utilize the tools of visualization, positive affirmations and positive imagery. What we think has a strong impact on our immune system, as the science of psychoneuroimmunology has demonstrated for us. Be proactive. Use the power of your mind and believe in your ability to be healthy.

6. Drink adequate pure water and nourishing fluids every day, because hydration is key to cellular and lymph health. Herbal teas provide valuable nourishment. There are very specific formulas that can assist with blood, tissue and organ tonification, as well as cleansing.

7. Nourish yourself. Go organic with your diet and be environmentally friendly with all of your food and products. Eat an immune supportive diet. Reduce the total load your body and the earth has to clean up. Get an air filter for your home and your work place, if possible. Be in natural environments whenever possible. Breath fresh air, notice the beauty and just listen.

8. Employ seasonal detoxifications. Adopt simplified eating habits for a few days at a time and/or bring in some herbs that focus on blood, liver, lymph and bowel cleansing.

9. This is the only don’t. Everything else is proactive here. But I can’t forget to remind you to significantly reduce or eliminate refined sugar. Sugar feeds cancer cells. It also feeds yeast and parasites, and has a tremendous capacity to depress the immune system.

10. Take immune-supportive supplements and at least a multiple vitamin mineral with antioxidants. Bring in other antioxidants like lipoic acid and CoQ10. The herb astragalus is very immune-tonifying. Elderberry is great for the onset of colds and flu. The medicinal mushrooms like shiitake, reishi and maitaki mushrooms bring in bioflavonoids. N-Acetyl Cysteine is also great at the onset of colds or flu. It is really immune tonifying. It has an increase on the NK cells. Olive leaf extract is a wonderful product that is anti-viral, anti-fungal and antibacterial. It has the intelligence to seek out and kill the harmful pathogenic bacteria while leaving the beneficial bacteria of our bodies alone. Enjoy probiotics also. Boost the immunity of the gastrointestinal system. It will boost the immunity of your entire body.

That’s it! That’s Cheryl’s Top Ten. Enjoy your health, Holistic health matters!
